Coating abrasion resistance tester Test method is to use curved (annular or circular) needle to determine the abrasion resistance of a single coating of paint, varnish or related products, or a composite coating layer coating: the tested product or system is applied to a uniform thickness on a flat test plate with a uniform surface texture. After drying/curing, scratch resistance is measured by pushing the test plate under the curved (annular or circular) marker, which is mounted to the surface of the test plate at 45°, continuously increasing the load acting on the test plate until the coating is scratched. The minimum load for coating scratches is the load that causes at least 2 out of 5 measurements.
